None of the girls on the truck are talking; no birds are singing; it is cold. It is Diana's last day.

By the age of 6, I had already decided I was going to be a Marine Biologist but I never imagined that by the time I graduated I would be fighting to save the last of a species and documenting the end of an era. It became apparent that the changes that are occurring in our oceans are happening at a staggering rate and that in just my short lifetime, in just 25 years I have been able to observe a rapid decline in health and biodiversity. As a passionate diver that has always had an affinity with our oceans I set out to make this film to show the power of marine protected areas and show a younger generation it is not too late for our generation to make a genuine and lasting impact changing the future of our oceans for the better. Switching between memories and reality ‘My 25’ tells an intimate story of how our oceans have changed in just my lifetime. From traditional fishing practices to state of the art wet labs and coral restoration work we will demonstrate how there is still time to change the fate of our oceans and show the importance of learning from different cultures and generations in the fight to conserve our oceans.

Hoda, a veiled woman, enters a police station in Beirut to submit a claim of rape. After being questioned thoroughly, she admits to the police officers that it is her husband who is abusing her. The officer at the station is surprised and somehow amused to hear this and quickly dismisses her request since it is not against the law. Nevertheless, Hoda insists and claims that he has also been physically violent, which grasps the officers' interest since the case turned into domestic violence, which is punishable by law. The officers ask her to provide them with proof of violence, get a report from a legal doctor, which costs 200 USD, so she can submit a proper claim. Since she doesn't have that kind of money, she decides to leave the station. The moment she decided to go, the officers ask her to show them her ID card for a standard background check. She provides them with what they had requested, not knowing that they will find old unpaid parking tickets in her name that have accumulated to become 200,000 LBP with the penalties. She denies having a car up until they clear the model, which turned out to be a car her husband brought supposedly for her, but then he never let her drive it and then sold it back. She begs them to let her go since she doesn't have the money, and is too scared to call her husband, but they persist in saying to her that she cannot leave before paying the penalties. Every option she has will lead to an even more problematic domestic environment.

In the tiniest country of mainland Africa, The Gambia, fish is now being powdered up by Chinese corporations and exported to Europe and China to feed animals in industrial farming. As a result, Gambians are being deprived of their primary source of protein and overfishing is depleting marine ecosystems. The film follows Abou, Mariama and Paul, three Gambians who share intimate stories of daily struggle, anger, hope and longing for their loved ones in the midst of difficult migration routes. The first film on Gambia’s fishmeal factories, offering a unique insight into untold drivers of migration and the role played by women in new economic systems.

The idea of my film Stuck Together deals with the global subject of the migrant crisis referring, above all, to the xenophobia and panic rhetoric present in all mainstream media which, simultaneously, serves as a defence of the so-called imperialistic politics of the great powers. The idea is to try and expose this discourse, whereas to perceive the present migrations in a historic and globally political context realized through a concrete artistic practice. With that, we will get a more complete picture of this problem and will obviously open a lot of questions but we will also call for possible solutions. Through my creative investigation in my experimental film Stuck Together, and at the same time using a strong visual aesthetics, these twenty silent participants placed and stuck in a symbolical space – a glass cube placed in an open area, I refer to the global actual issue, and the life and destiny of migrants and homeless people, whereas, through their sad destinies, I reflect the picture of the present society. Actually, through their non-verbal gesticulations, mimes and lost eye-sights, there are different dimensions of attitudes and question that intersect with each other, of past and present, the relation of centre and periphery, all aspects of movements and travel, migrations and exile, but also establishing new standards in communication of contemporary local, regional and European dimensions in a time where reading new constellations and ideologies from the past is needed due to the new establishment in the multipolar new world.

This world is way more unbelievable than you think. When the director read a story about the sexual and romantic relationship between a human and a dolphin, and learned that it was not the only case, he was inspired. Based on a real story, the MV attempts to uncover the origin of a legend by proposing a hypothesis from a scientific point of view: the possibility of mutation. Could it be the origin of the mermaid legend? A girl fell in love with a dolphin. The forbidden love was discovered by the villagers and aroused their anger. They brought a nautical chart and set out to hunt the dolphin (just like the witch and vampire hunt in the medieval period). In the end, the dolphin was killed; the girl went crazy. Ten months later, the girl gave birth to a half- man half-fish creature. This might be the origin of the mermaid legend.
