Educational Workshop

‘Together Doc’

18 July 2025 at the Tomato Industrial Museum D. Nomikos

For the third year in a row, the Santorini Film Festival joined forces with the Tomato Industrial Museum “D. Nomikos” to organize a creative educational workshop for children.

This year, inspired by the Festival’s theme “We’re Not Really Strangers,” the workshop used filmmaking as a connection medium that brought parents and children together. Designed and curated by the audiovisual arts educator Ioanna Giakoumatou, the SFF2025 film workshop titled ‘Together Doc’ invited participants to create their own story in collaboration with their adult guardians and the rest of the team. They learned to express the concept of “togetherness” through the camera and, while experiencing the dual role of a family member and part of a small film crew, they felt, grew, and discovered new knowledge.

The welcoming Tomato Industrial Museum “D. Nomikos” was the ideal setting to make the participants’ cinematic experience even more special. Both the indoor spaces and the outdoor area where the history of the factory came alive, offered inspiration to young and old alike. There, the team members created their own short film and engaged with the notion of collaboration as members of a creative team.
